Fethiye symbolizes the incredible harmony of the blue and green at the point where the Taurus Mountains merge into the sea. With a history dating back to the 5 th century B.C., it was called Telmessos in the Antique Period.
FETHİYE FOOD
The cuisine in Fethiye is undeniably amazing. With access to fresh, local produce and seafood, the culinary opportunities are endless. So let’s talk start with breakfast…
1. Turkish Breakfast
A Turkish breakfast consists of many different types of food and courses and will leave you full for the rest of the day. In Fethiye, you will enjoy the greatest Turkish breakfast due to its access to all local and seasonal ingredients. In a Turkish breakfast, it is customary to find fresh tomatoes and cucumbers accompanied by white cheese and an assortment of olives. Next you may enjoy a piece of bread with homemade jam or a bit of butter and honey. You can of course have eggs cooked in various ways: hard-boiled, fried with sucuk (sausage), or a traditional scramble with green peppers, onions, and tomatoes called menemen. There can also be a borek, a Turkish pastry with white cheese and spinach, or gözleme, a thin dough called yufka, similar to a crèpe, filled with cheese or meat or herbs and cooked in a pan.
And, of course, a breakfast would be complete without coffee or tea. And here you have the option of either. Enjoy the strong taste of distinct tea leaves grown only in Turkey, with sugar or without. Or you can opt for a Turkish coffee, but remember to tell your waiter if you want it sade (without sugar), as şerker (a little sugar), orta (medium sugar), or şekerli (very sugared).
While in Fethiye, take advantage of the many views of the sea and book yourself a lovely breakfast by the water. Or perhaps you would rather enjoy your breakfast by the ghost village of Kayaköy. Either way, Fethiye can offer you many different stunning views to accompany your delicious start to the day.
